Job Title: Machinery Operator

Job location – Brewster, KS

Located in NW Kansas along I-70 just 40 miles from the Colorado border, Brewster is a very active rural community with great business, medical, educational and cultural facilities in the area.

Educational / Experience Requirements: High School Diploma, One year construction experience, Valid Kansas Class A commercial driver’s license with tank endorsement and a good driving record, required.

Personal Qualities: Hard Working, self motivated, like working with people, honest and dependable.

Job Tasks: Places cable for the purpose of ensuring service can be provided to customers desiring services from the company. Tasks may include operating machinery, locating utilities by shovel, gaining and maintaining knowledge of distance parameters, logging footages used, etc.

Locates cables for the purpose of ensuring construction can occur without disrupting service to customers. Tasks may include operating the cable locator, reading staking sheets, utilizing maps and records, doing fault locating, flagging or painting locations, attending construction meetings, working with contractors and other utilities, tracking buried cable, etc.

Performs shop work for the purpose of ensuring parts are made and available for construction equipment. Tasks may include assessing the needed parts, obtaining the necessary materials to make the required parts, operating equipment, making the necessary parts, installing the parts, testing their effectiveness, keeping parts on hand, etc.

Assists Outside Plant Technicians as time allows for the purpose of ensuring customer service is delivered timely and comprehensively to customers. Tasks may include assessing problems, repairing troubles, installing and terminating wiring, doing moves, adds, changes, deletes, installing DSL and CATV, completing paperwork, cleaning up the work area, etc. .

Maintains the truck and its inventory for the purpose of ensuring the truck continuously operates in good condition with sufficient inventory to provide timely service to the customer. Tasks may include performing preventative maintenance checks, completing some of the preventative maintenance items, rotating and balancing, making minor and major repairs, reporting and arranging for other maintenance or repairs to be made, maintaining a record of maintenance performed, reviewing the stock on the truck, adding or subtracting stock as appropriate, maintaining appropriate inventory records, etc.
